Jana, your "First Winter Storm" article was excellent and your descriptions were so beautifully written that I could picture the snowy scenery without seeing a photograph. I am glad you and Tracy made it back safely too!

Hole in the rock road is a wash board. Before taking your vehicle please be aware of the road condition. Very very bad road that will surely put your vehicle out of alignment + whatever else. Good luck- take plenty of water

If anyone wants to enjoy the quiet atmosphere of a friendly town in Escalante, this looks promising. They even have 86 vacancies available. There is beautiful scenery, so it would be a nice environment to settle down in.

Jana, it seems as though the town has already made up its mind. Most of the restaurant are only seasonal and every business I have scene open the past 2 years I have been here are B & B or hotels or RV parks...Another thing to consider about the population is that most Friday nights thru Sunday night the local population is either in Cedar City, St. George or Salt Lake City areas...Escalante is a great place to raise your kids but with little to no jobs available I personally could not afford to live in Escalante any longer...Not sure if my 4 were included in your count of leaving the school but in all likelihood we will be relocating when school is out in May.
