Where is the Grand Staircase?
You'll find it all around you. The staircase is a series of plateaus of rock. There is no one place you can stand and see it. As you look south out of Escalante, envision a series of steps of enormous size that lead down to the Colorado River.
Where can I get Maps?
From the Utah Canyons store on main street or on-line at their website. If you're hiking around they can create a custom map for you. Be sure you know where you're going. Help is a long ways away.

Visit the Rock Shop on the road to Escalante Petrified Forest State Park. They have legal pieces you can purchase.
